About Domaine Jean Marc-Pillot
Jean-Marc Pavelot, now joined by his son Hughes, maintains what is arguably the top estate in the underappreciated village of Savigny-lès-Beaune. Savigny is one of the Cote de Beaune's major wine producing areas, and in the past was known for its rustic (read: backward) wines. Traditionally Savigny's wineries, including Pavelot, sold off the bulk of their production to negociants. Today, however, many estates, with Domaine Jean-Marc Pavelot in the forefront, have adapted current production techniques and raised the stature of Savigny's wines. Domaine Jean-Marc Pavelot produces both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from eight premier Cru vineyards. These are pure, concentrated, fruit-driven wines with enticing sweetness and excellent balance. These wines frequently offer terrific value by the standards of Burgundy. Not only are they affordable, they're also highly age worthy.
