About Chateau de Beaucastel

Located in the southern Rhone Valley, the Chateau de Beaucastel is known primarily for its Chateauneuf du Page line of wines. For this selection, they use a total of 13 traditional grape varieties. The winery maintains 130 hectares of land, 100 of which are used for vineyards. Three-quarters of their vineyard area lies within the Chateauneuf du Page appellation.

Chateau de Beaucastel’s terroir contains marine molasses dating back to the Miocene period. The soil also has a high volume of stones, which retain heat and transfer it to the vines. The climate in this particular region is characterized by low rainfall, plenty of sunshine and great temperature shifts. A deep respect for the land is at the heart of the operation at Chateau de Beaucastel. It’s their goal to enhance the quality of the soil and surrounding environment to maintain the authenticity of wines from this region.

History of Chateau de Beaucastel

Chateau de Beaucastel has a rich history with evidence of the winery showing up in the 16th century. Pierre de Beaucastel purchased the plot of land in 1549 for farming purposes. It was there that the original Beaucastel manor was constructed.  In 1909, Pierre Tramier was head of the wine estate but transferred control to his son-in-law Pierre Perrin who fully developed the Beaucastel winery. His son Jacques eventually took over and continued his father’s work until 1978. Today, Jacques Perrin’s sons work to preserve the heritage of Chateau de Beaucastel wines. Other members of the family also work together to maintain this beautiful estate. Together, they operate Chateau de Beaucastel with absolute love and respect for its terroir.
