About Chateau Rayas
Chateau Rayas Facts
Historically cited as the exception that proves that a 100%-Grenache wine can be capable of long aging (tiny crop levels and the right soil and site are as important here as vinification and aging of the wine), Rayas has for decades been treasured for its unique combination of almost Burgundian red-berry perfume and extraordinary liqueur-like ripeness and mouth-filling richness. Founded in 1880 by Albert Reynaud, a former notary who found solace in the vines after losing his hearing, Château Rayas is now maintained by Albert's great-grandson, Emmanuel. Rayas' ten hectares in Châteauneuf du Pape are not his only responsibility, however.

Reynaud also manages the family's two other estates, Château de Fonsalette in Orange and Château des Tours in Sarrians.
