Despite Pierre Cellier Prestige’s legendary pedigree—it comes from one of Champagne's most iconic houses, and from one of its most renowned families—it’s a wine that often gets overlooked by the casual observer. 

Alongside the glut of superstars from the region, Pierre and Chantal Gonet quietly released this beautiful, perfectly authentic little soul brush called Pierre Cellier Prestige. It’s a delightfully vibrant Champagne, showing fine layers of pastry, orchard fruit, and citrus after two years of lees aging. 

The Chardonnay in this wine is grown by Pierre and Chantal in the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger—the very heart of Champagne—while the Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in the blend are drawn from stunning plots in La Chapelle-Monthodon, Vertus, and Le Breuil. 

We wouldn’t have even known about it had it not been for the urging of a Le Mesnil local a few years ago. We had sipped and supped our way through two blissful days in Le Mesnil, trying vintage Champagnes going back into what felt like the mists of time. On our last afternoon, we bumped into Chantal with a mutual friend who absolutely fawned over her and Pierre’s abilities. That evening, we tried a full gamut of Gonet wines, including this Pierre Cellier Prestige, and walked away feeling like we’d unveiled some kind of forbidden knowledge. Could a Champagne with that much personality really cost so little?
