Bubbly of Choice at the Hotel Ritz
When the Rothschild family sets out to make a wine, they aim to create an icon, and it shows in their exquisite Brut.
Pale-gold with pinpoint bubbles, crisp and clean on the palate, and bursting with freshly cut apples and a complex underpinning of roasted hazelnut and toast, it’s the kind of Champagne quality you'd expect from the family behind First Growths Mouton Rothschild and Lafite Rothschild, worldwide icon Opus One, and Almaviva (the winery behind James Suckling’s Wine of the Decade).
Wine Access members recognized that world-leading quality immediately after cleaning out our first allocation, putting it among our highest-rated Champagnes with an outrageous 4.6-out-of-5-star rating. A bubbly poured for the grand reopening of the Hotel Ritz in Paris, it’s bottled aristocracy—and in a 375ml format, there’s no excuse not to open one whenever the mood strikes you.
The Rothschilds struck their Champagne alliance in 2003, when members from different sides of the family realized that they were all drinking Champagne on a daily basis. They decided to pool their resources and limitless winemaking savoir faire into producing a Champagne worthy of the Rothschild name.
The Brut consists of 60% Chardonnay from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, supplemented with 40% Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru villages of Verzenay, Aÿ, and Ambonnay, as well as the Premier Cru village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Up to 40% reserve wine adds to the wine’s striking depth of character. From one of the most storied regions of France and one of the most revered families in wine, this bottle is a celebration in itself.
