Vibrant, Any-Occasion Pinot Noir
Tior couldn’t have asked for a better start.
The Willamette Valley’s 2023 growing season was a breeze. A cool spring. A warm, dry summer. No major weather events. Wine Enthusiast rated it as one of the greatest vintages of the past 25 years, and in her second season as a vintner, Chelsea Hinman Miller took full advantage to produce a velvety and well-balanced 2023 Tior Pinot Noir.
Daughter of Oregon wine pioneers Doyle and Sue Hinman, she grew up learning about exceptional terroir. And in 2023’s serene harvest season she made a beeline for the Yamhill-Carlton sub-AVA—the prestigious source for some of the region’s finest Pinot Noirs.
She came away with a fresh, floral, and vibrant Pinot. With alluring strawberry, rose, forest floor, and spice on the nose, this wine keeps the ripeness of the vintage in perfect balance with fresh acidity and satiny tannins. It’s sure to be a hit, whether you pour it next to seared salmon, during a spirited conversation with friends, or just to sit and contemplate on your own.
Hinman Miller founded Tior to craft noble Pinot Noir with a particularly bright fruit profile The number of Oregon restaurants that have already added Tior to their wine lists show that she’s hit her mark.
She fermented the 2023 with native yeasts, then gave it 11 months in two-year-old French oak for everything to come together. And it’s emerged as a vivid Pinot Noir, making one thing crystal clear: Though this might only be their second vintage, Tior’s got a bright future ahead.
