From the innovative minds at No Love Lost comes a wine that defies convention while honoring tradition—their 2023 Counoise from Lodi's west side. This rare Rhône variety finds an unexpected but extraordinary home in the sandy loam soils of the Claypool family’s vineyard in Lodi, where a bold decision to graft over existing Zinfandel vines to the Counoise grape has yielded remarkable results. 

No Love Lost’s commitment to sustainable, vegan-friendly winemaking practices aligns perfectly with the Claypool family's hands-on organic farming approach. 

Through careful carbonic maceration—a gentle, whole-cluster fermentation process lasting 15 days—followed by foot-treading and aging in neutral Burgundy barrels, they’ve crafted a Counoise that speaks eloquently of both place and purpose.

In the glass, this wine captivates with its brilliant ruby hue and immediately announces its presence with an aromatic symphony of wild strawberries and tart cherries, complemented by fresh violet florals. The palate is a masterclass in balance, where vibrant acidity lifts the bright red fruit core while subtle notes of white pepper, clove, and anise add intrigue and complexity.
