It Doesn’t Get More Chablisienne Than This
Moreau’s Chablis has been one of our bestselling bottles of white Burgundy every year since we started offering it—which was over 15 vintages ago. Since then, our members have left scores of four- and five-star reviews, calling Moreau “exactly what I look for in a Chablis,” and “a favorite in our house…what I want from Chablis.”
The 2023 version is the latest in a string of classics, hailing from a warm vintage that provided plenty of beautiful stone-fruit flavors to add a touch of richness to the classic Meyer lemon zestiness and oyster-shell minerality.
J. Moreau & Fils was founded in 1814 as a wine merchant and trading firm. Over time, the domaine acquired several Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, establishing itself as one of the most important producers in the region. The Moreau family’s success in Chablis is written in their longevity, in the proliferation of quality wines bearing their name, and in the dozens of top scores the domaine’s wines have received in the past decade.
The Gloire cuvée is bright and celebratory, a golden-tinged beauty that shows off the winery’s mastery in blending diverse Chablis terroirs into a harmonious whole. The grapes went through a long pneumatic pressing, then the juice was left to settle in order to separate it from the sediment. After undergoing full malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, the wine aged on the fine lees for eight months, giving it a creamy mouthfeel to balance the lively acidity.
Named for the relics of Saint-Martin, the Gloire serves up classic Chablis in all its signature bright fruit and crushed-limestone minerality. Eight months after fermentation, it’s bottled and shipped straight to us, with perfect provenance.
