One of the World’s Best Sauvignon Blancs
Northern Italy’s Friuli region makes some of the greatest white wines in the world—and when they had their own earth-shattering, “Judgment of Paris” moment in 2014, it was Tiare’s Sauvignon Blanc that took down the titans.
Tiare marched into the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon, the top worldwide competition for Sauvignon Blanc, and took the top spot, besting nearly 500 wines from Sancerre, Bordeaux, New Zealand, and beyond. Today, winemaker Roberto Snidarcig’s 2022 version is worthy of its giant-toppling label.
This is one of the best vintages they’ve ever produced—which is saying something, when you’re talking about a wine that’s won Italy’s highest wine honor, Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri, 10 times. That’s why we can confidently say that member-praise for past years—which includes quotes like “First rate Sauvignon,” “Truly world class,” and “BRAVO to Wine Access”—all applies here.
Tiare’s 30-acre property in Collio, positioned between the Adriatic Sea and the Julian Alps, experiences wide temperature swings between day and night that foster an excellent balance of ripeness and acidity in the grapes. The estate’s meticulous soil management pinpoints the parts of the vineyard with the ideal microbial activity to provide a healthy level of nutrients for the vines.
The vineyard team carefully monitors the grapes so they can pick them at the exact moment when aromatic ripeness reaches its peak. The wine’s gorgeous texture and vibrancy are preserved by aging in stainless-steel tanks, ultimately yielding a beautifully perfumed, mineral-rich Sauvignon Blanc.
This is a wine that competes with the world’s best at a price that encourages second, third, and fourth glasses—and even a few bottles.
