She Spent Fifteen Years at Pride Mountain

It’s rare to find a Napa Sauvignon Blanc with Tamber Bey’s winemaking pedigree. But then again, there are only a few Napa winemakers that have Sally Johnson Blum’s talent.

Blum is a multi-100–point winemaker who helmed Pride Mountain Vineyards for 15 years before leaving to start one of the most in-demand consultancies in Napa. Her wines have landed on Spectator’s Top 100 list and have been served at White House State Dinners. And her 2022 Tamber Bey Sauvignon Blanc is a treat to drink—full of citrus blossoms, Meyer lemon, and apricot flavors, with a seductive texture that’s pure Napa.

Tamber Bey stands as one of Napa Valley's most distinctive boutique estates. Nestled at the base of the Palisades Mountains in Calistoga, the winery takes its unique name from founder Barry Waitte's first two Arabian horses, Tamborina and Bayamo.

In his quest for perfection, Barry works with some of the finest vineyards in the Golden State: names like Bien Nacido, UV Vineyard (of Aubert fame), and Radian. He also believes in the importance of top-class winemaking talent.

Tamber Bey first brought on winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, who laid the groundwork for much of the enology at the winery. Then Barry made the pivotal decision to bring on renowned winemaker Sally Johnson Blum, who has elevated Tamber Bey to new heights.

Her 2022 Napa Sauvignon Blanc is made from a blend of clones, including the coveted, highly aromatic Sauvignon Musqué. It’s fermented and aged solely in stainless steel tanks to preserve brightness and verve, which plays nicely against the richness that came with the 2022 vintage.
