100pt Winemaker and Cult Napa Vineyards Make an NDA Offer for the Ages

We’re treading very carefully with the 2022 Radio Silence Cabernet Sauvignon, because the famous Napa winemaker who produced it required a personal sign-off on our write-up. In fact, this might be the tightest NDA we’ve ever signed—with good reason, given the incredible star power behind this wine.

Here’s what we can tell you. The winemaker has authored several 100-point wines and crafted bottles for some huge names you definitely know, and we definitely can’t say. “Breathtaking” is a word Antonio Galloni has used to describe the wines.

The grapes for this limited-run release were sourced from two powerhouse Napa estates, each of which produces wines that command in excess of $300 per bottle. A one-off Napa Cab project that stuns with bold, rich plushness and big, ripe tannins, scoring it for our members was a stroke of fortune that happens once in a few years.

Obsessive would be an understatement when it comes to this winemaker’s relationship to reading and evaluating vineyards. They’ve worked with some of the best plots on both sides of the Atlantic, and, whether from a sense of passion or competitiveness, insist that growers make small changes each year to improve the product and chase perfection. Lower yields, better flavors, clusters that are loose enough for circulation… something can always be improved, by their lights.

Contracts with hundreds of top Napa plots yields access to the cream of the crop—and, on occasion, slightly more fruit than is needed. When that occurred in 2022, we were lucky to get the call. Keeping mum on the source is a small ask in exchange for this kind of pedigree.
