A Burgundy Master, Stalked by Collectors
By now it barely needs to be said: If you want the absolute best of Burgundy, you’re going to pay stratospheric prices. We’re not talking three digits, but sometimes four and even five!
There are very few exceptions among the top producers, but perhaps the most extraordinary is Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey. He is a Burgundy master, and his wines—not just his famed whites but the reds he crafts from the blue-chips villages of the Côte de Nuits—are stalked by sommeliers and collectors. Because of their extraordinary quality, yes, but also their affordability.
We first met Pierre-Yves at New York’s La Paulée in 2014. His father is the legendary vintner Marc Colin, and after spending a decade elevating his father’s Domaine Marc Colin to a second golden age, Pierre-Yves struck out on his own with his wife Caroline. They founded Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey—or PYCM as it’s affectionately known—in 2003 with a few family-owned parcels, and have slowly added to their holdings.
Today, Pierre-Yves Colin is a star at the top of his game, and a Burgundy standard-bearer. We’re thrilled to have an allocation from this spectacular producer, and even more excited to share the wines with you!
