Classic Cabernet Sauvignon at a Yester-year Price

Terroir winemaker Craig Handly is the mastermind behind Napa’s Gibbs Winery—one of the last and greatest insider-secrets in the Valley, except among our members, who have blown through our last two allocations to unlock access to the 2022 Terroir Cabernet Sauvignon at a stunning price.

Stationed on a beautiful piece of land in a prime slice of St. Helena, the Gibbs family have owned their estate for seven decades. That translates to low capital costs, which get passed on to the consumer, making the phenomenal Terroir Cabernet Sauvignon an essential for lovers of bold, classic Napa Cab.

Long before taking over his family’s vineyard operations in 2013, Craig started fiddling around with Cabernet Sauvignon in his father-in-law’s garage. He bottled his early efforts under the Terroir label, slowly honing his skills and learning the secrets of great Cabernet: Pick it at just the right moment, blend judiciously, and don’t rush the aging process.

Today, despite overwhelming success with the higher-dollar Gibbs label, Craig bottles a few barrels of Terroir as a loving homage to his start, passing on the savings to in-the-know Cab connoisseurs and Gibbs’ extensive mailing list. The 2022 is a dynamite blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with dashes of Cab Franc, Malbec, and Merlot that add balance and a plush, velveteen character to the fruit. Aged for a full 22 months in 35% new oak, this is a balanced blockbuster that will only improve over the next decade.

Craig’s wines have fast become favorites among our members, racking up impressive ratings of 4.5 stars—and we expect this Cab to follow suit in no-time flat.
