Iconic, Ageworthy Chenin
Domaine Huet’s 2022 Vouvray Le Mont Demi-Sec is an exquisite, terroir-driven wine that conveys the exceptional nature of Loire Chenin Blanc and this historic estate. Grown on the pebbly 20-acre Le Mont Vineyard—a plot of land that Domaine Huet has owned since 1957—it’s a wine of gorgeous and intense minerality that will thrive in your cellar for a decade plus.
We adore this wine—as do Wine Spectator and Vinous, who decorated it with scores of 94 and 95 points. It’s as excellent of a white wine as you could want for your cellar: We’re not exaggerating when we say that if we had to choose one under-$60 white to put away for the future, we couldn’t think of a better one.
Since its founding in 1928, Domaine Huet has become the gold standard of Chenin Blanc in the Loire Valley. The estate’s three parcels—Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont, and Clos du Bourg—compose most of Vouvray’s Première Côte (“First Slope”) and contain virtually all of the appellation’s Grand Cru vineyards.
The wines from Le Mont stand as the most mineral-driven and high-acid of the three sites, and are known for a youthful intensity that broadens with time. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically. Huet was an early adopter of the practice and stands as a model for small producers around the world. It’s just another way that the legendary producer has sought to raise their own standards.
White wine rarely gets better than this. We’re stocking up on this incredible wine, and we hope you’ll join us.
