    In-the-Know Find from Dream Sancerre Terroir

    Our first introduction to Cherrier’s Les 7 Hommes came at Temporis, the MICHELIN-starred tasting-menu temple in Chicago. 

    It was a Sancerre worthy of the high-end setting—crystalline and pure, featuring the depth and complexity we associate with the very top names from the region—so we included it in our MICHELIN shipment with the restaurant. And for over a year, our MICHELIN-club subscribers were the only ones to get it. There wasn’t enough of it available to offer to all our members, but we loved it so much that we contacted the winery. And ever since we kicked off that relationship, we’ve been asking for a large enough allocation to offer broadly.

    The Cherrier Père et Fils’ estate encompasses a highly coveted trifecta of famous Sancerre soils that yields stunningly complex wines. Drawn off seashell-rich Kimmeridgian marl, chalk-limestone caillottes, and flinty Silex, it’s got the mix of power, intensity, and pure fruit that typifies top Sancerre.

    Access to all three soil types on estate vineyards is a luxury that many Sancerre producers can only dream about, and it makes for a wine that displays the best of the appellation. 

    In 2022, the Cherriers were blessed with a modern-day classic vintage. After several years of enduring seemingly everything that mother nature could throw at them—frost, rain, you name it—the sun shone on Sancerre in 2022. The result is this wine, which shows off beautifully seductive fruit to go with its trademark minerality.
