To Old Friends and Top-Notch Pinot
Look, we love Sonoma County Pinot Noir, and we love the icons. But we’re also always on the lookout for Pinots that way overperform their price, which is why we love Typicité.
Typicité flies way under the radar—the only reason we know them is because our CEO has a childhood connection with the winemaker, Collin Cranor. Turns out he’s a Wine Access member, and when he saw Joe’s name on one of our emails, he reached out and sent us a bottle.
We thought it was fantastic. We offered it to our members, and they agreed. “Glorious. I loved it,” wrote one, while another called the wine, “One of the best Pinot Noir options I've tried.”
Collin and his partner Craig Ploof are 100% dedicated to Pinot Noir from some of the great regions and sites in California, and their 2021 Dutton Ranch Pinot hails from two of the Dutton family’s prime Green Valley vineyards: Goff and Hallberg, which has long been a source for Schramsberg, Gary Farrell, Emeritus, and Etude.
Grown in the 2021 vintage that Wine Spectator rated Sonoma County’s best in three decades, Typicité’s Dutton Pinot is powerful and complex, perfect for fans of Kosta Browne, Williams Selyem, Far Niente’s EnRoute, and other lush Russian River Pinots.
Collin and Craig’s goal is always to bring out the best of the vineyard, and they’ve done it here. This is a fantastic wine, an off-the-grid gem, and we’re thrilled to share it with you.
