    America’s Answer to Bordeaux Blanc

It’s hard to find a white that showcases America’s epicenter of grapegrowing with more elegance and class than the Twomey Cellars Sauvignon Blanc. But when you consider this is a First Growth–inspired white from the family behind Silver Oak, it all makes sense.

With a California legacy second to none, a fierce devotion to terroir, and meticulous quality-control measures, it’s no wonder this 2021 Sauvignon Blanc delivers incredible complexity. It’s America’s answer to Bordeaux Blanc—and it’s also a perfect summertime crowd pleaser.

Four estate-owned properties in Napa and Sonoma furnished the Sauvignon Blanc for this wine, each of which brings grapes with a different flavor profile: the Calistoga Vineyard adds bright acidity, richness, and depth; the Oakville Vineyard contributes crisp citrus and refreshing mineral notes; the Healdsburg Vineyard provides roundness and tropical fruit; and the Merino Vineyard in Russian River Valley supplies lively acidity and complex flavors, including intriguing notes of ginger and wet stone.

The 2021 growing season started off cool and dry, which primed the vines to conserve resources by growing smaller canopies and producing fewer bunches. As a result, growth in the vineyard was quite balanced, and the lower yields with smaller berries led to impressively concentrated flavors.

In the cellar, each vineyard lot is kept separate and ferments in a variety of vessels—stainless steel, concrete eggs, and neutral oak—to add depth and richness, and that variety extends to the aging as well, which takes place primarily in wood barriques and puncheons, but also in drums, tanks, and concrete.

Intense and enjoyable by itself but also extremely versatile on the table, it’s a world-class California Sauvignon Blanc.
