    From Coombsville’s Most Historic Vineyard

The 2021 Revelry Cabernet has no flashy scores attached to it. It’s not from a cult producer whose wines fetch big prices at auction. There’s no connection to a famous consultant and no 100-point winemaker steering the ship.

    None of that matters.

Because ever since we visited winemaker Jared Burns in the cellar and took our first sips of this bold, structured, seamless red, we knew we wanted it for our members. It reminds us of wines from Stags Leap, or perhaps modern bottles from St.-Estèphe. It’s no doubt one of our favorite Washington wines we’ve tasted in the last few years.

This bottle leans heavily on three of Washington’s hottest regions for the lion’s share of its blend: The Horse Heaven Hills AVA has drawn 100-point names like the iconic Quilceda Creek to its windy climate and well-drained basalt soils, while the Wahluke Slope AVA has a slightly hotter climate and alluvial soils. The balance comes from Walla Walla, and the finished product is a gorgeous snapshot of the Columbia Valley writ large.

Jared founded Revelry in 2005, and although he’s earned Top 100 honors from the San Francisco Chronicle, his wines remain under the radar for many wine lovers, even in Washington. How does he do it without breaking his fans’ bank accounts? Fortunately, land (and just about everything else) is much less expensive in eastern Washington’s golden hills, which makes it a place of limitless potential for ambitious winemakers like Jared—and limitless value for wine lovers.
