Perfect Score, Priceless Pedigree
When vintner Alejandro Bulgheroni arrived in Napa Valley, he made moves to match his grand aspirations. He purchased 14 prime acres in St. Helena from Bill Harlan and hired two of the most lauded winemakers: Philippe Melka and Michel Rolland.
The gambit paid off in a wine that stands with the very best in the world—the 100-point 2021 Alejandro Bulgheroni Cabernet Sauvignon.
In his perfect review, Jeb Dunnuck called this a “full-bodied, flawlessly balanced, utterly heavenly” Cabernet. It’s only made from the very best barrels in the Bulgheroni cellar: Half this wine is from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville and the rest is from Bulgheroni’s own estate, plus Dr. Crane and Las Piedras, all in St. Helena. It was made in a minute 212-case quantity. Given the expertise, the sourcing, the selection, and the scarcity, it’s as exclusive as just about any bottle in Napa.
No winery in Napa Valley has more winemaking power than Bulgheroni's Lithology estate. Matt Sands, who has been with the outfit since 2015, collaborates with Michel Rolland, Philippe Melka, and Maayan Koschitzky.
Sands considers this bottling the "Burgundian expression of Cabernet"—the creme de la creme, chosen from Grand Cru equivalents. They hand-pick the best barrels from sites like Dr. Crane, Las Piedras, and To Kalon for this flagship wine.
Jonathan Cristaldi's Decanter review marveled at the intellectual complexity and structure, hinting at longevity. Dunnuck predicted three-plus decades of glorious evolution in the cellar.
This world-class Cabernet boasts a perfect score and priceless pedigree. It's a rarity that no Cabernet collector should miss.
