Colgin’s Pritchard Hill Perfection
“A Napa Valley legend in the making,” is what Jeb Dunnuck called Colgin’s 2021 IX Estate in his review, praising it as “full-bodied, concentrated, and flawlessly balanced.” It earned a staggering 99-point score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
This is a Napa Valley masterpiece, displaying a deep, saturated purple hue, a captivating nose showing infinite black fruit with subtle hints of dark chocolate, espresso, and sweet tobacco, and a luxurious, seamless texture. For pure, unadulterated pleasure on the palate, you can’t do better than this.
This wine shows why Colgin is about as exclusive and precious as any wine made in Napa Valley.
Ann Colgin founded Colgin Cellars in 1992, after a distinguished career in the world of fine art. Colgin’s first winemaker, Helen Turley, set the standard for excellence, and that tradition is now maintained by Director of Winemaking Allison Tauziet.
The IX Estate hails from Colgin’s 125-acre Pritchard Hill property, which overlooks Lake Hennessey and is also home to Colgin’s cutting-edge winery. The vineyard itself consists of 20 acres carved into a hillside, and boasts varied slopes from gentle to steep. Pritchard Hill is known for some of the most precious and characterful soils in Napa Valley, and that shows in this wine: The rocks give it its towering structure and power, while the iron-rich red clay gives it an enveloping warmth and texture.
This wine represents Napa Valley at its very best. We’re proud to share it with you.
