Fast Track to Cult Status

Decorated with 97-point praise and grown on the legendary cool-climate Bien Nacido Vineyard, the 2020 Site Wines Bien Nacido Syrah is one of the greatest and most complex Syrah expressions in California.

Jeb Dunnuck called it “ an absolutely gorgeous Syrah offering classic Bien Nacido power and richness” in his 97 point review. From one of the Grand Crus of California—it’s a small-production stunner that shows why Site Wines are on the fast track to cult status.

With just a few barrels produced, this bottle is just about impossible to find at retail. Most of it went to The French Laundry and its MICHELIN-starred ilk. Our access grew out of a friendship between our Master Sommelier Sur Lucero and Site owner Jeremy Weintraub. After two incredibly successful Site sellouts, plus a bevy of rave reviews from our members, we’ve become a trusted partner for moving this bombshell Syrah.

Owned and operated by Weintraub—the former Seavey (Napa) and current Adelaida (Paso Robles) winemaker—Site’s objective is to explore a trio of world-class vineyards. Jeremy lets the terroir and vintage dictate the style, without any dogma or preconceptions. It’s a philosophy that has landed his wines in regular rotation at spots like The French Laundry, SingleThread, Meadowood, and Lazy Bear.

Bien Nacido has few—maybe no—equals in the pantheon of Santa Barbara County sites. The vineyard’s elevation, loamy soil, and ocean-controlled mild temperatures form a cradle that heightens the Syrah’s broad-shouldered concentration, as the cool climate tightens the tension and energy that are crucial to the grape.
