    Chardonnay Elegance and Exclusivity

Opening and enjoying a bottle of Kistler is an elegant experience, from the moment you bring the immediately recognizable bottle—with its label that recalls the Grands Crus of the Côte de Beaune—to the table.

Our first-ever Kistler Chardonnay offer sold out immediately, and a slew of five-star reviews have rolled in since then. We’re thrilled to share the 2020 Kistler Vineyards Chardonnay Sonoma Mountain, a single-site wine from one of their top sources.

We have just 20 cases of this stunning Chardonnay, a bottle capable of drawing as many gasps as Montrachet. Hailing from the McCrea Vineyard, with which they’ve worked since the 1980s, it’s unbelievably complex in its youth but with years of life ahead of it. Rich and elegant, it’s classic Kistler from head to toe—the pinnacle of American Chardonnay.

While many wineries select multiple Chardonnay clones, Kistler works with just one—fittingly known as the Kistler clone. Originally from Burgundy, it’s been in California long enough to be considered a California heritage clone. The winery has refined it over the years, propagating vines that yield small crops of berries with great concentration and brisk natural acidity—the ideal raw materials for making gorgeous, site-transparent wines.

The vines produce stunningly small clusters only about five times the size of a cork. After being harvested in the cool of night, the grapes undergo fermentation in François Frères barrels that were themselves three-plus years in the making. The result is one of the purest, most precise examples of California Chardonnay available.
