    “Rich, Dense, and Concentrated”—Wine Enthusiast

Because of relentless price increases, shipping delays, and feverish demand for America’s favorite French Sauvignon Blanc, SPEED is the password these days when it comes to Sancerre.

So when we got a call from one of the greatest US importers of French wines, we picked up on the first ring. An allocation of Laporte? The same Sancerre that’s a staple at MICHELIN-three-star SingleThread and a by-the-glass pour at places like LA’s Republique and Yountville’s Ad Hoc? The same one that’s nearly impossible to find at retail?

That’s the one. Thanks to our long relationship with that legendary importer, we’re thrilled to have Domaine Laporte’s 2020 La Terre des Anges, an organic, allocated, flint-laden charmer of a Sancerre.

Founded in 1850, Domaine Laporte has been a Sancerre standard-bearer for generations, earning a reputation for wines of impeccable quality. The domaine has long resisted the lure of high production in favor of structured, low-yield wines that express what’s great about Sauvignon Blanc—and about the Loire in general.

Henri Bourgeois purchased the domaine from the Laporte family in 1986, keeping the estate's old vineyard, cellar, and house. That dedication to preserving tradition shines through in the grapegrowing as well: Laporte’s certified organic farming and time-honored, sustainable vineyard practices exemplify the winery’s goal of purity, excellence, and respect for the land.

Today, under the watchful eyes of Henri’s grandsons Arnaud and Cedric Bourgeois, Domaine Laporte remains one of the most highly respected producers in the Loire Valley.

Sourced in part from one of the finest vineyards in the appellation—Domaine du Rochoy, a 24-acre monopole—the 2020 Domaine Laporte is a Sancerre to treasure and pair with your own three-star creations!
