“The Finest Wine I've Tasted from this Estate,”
Once in a blue moon, a bottle of Bordeaux comes along that absolutely shatters expectations for its price. The 2020 Château Bellefont-Belcier is as big of an outlier as we can remember.
The Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate does sit in some pretty privileged terroir—it neighbors Larcis-Ducasse, Tertre Roteboeuf, and is about a two-minute drive from Château Pavie—and in the 2020 vintage, they absolutely crushed it.
That earned them a 98-point score from Jeb Dunnuck, which tied them with Château Angélus ($400+), Bélair-Monage ($200+), and Figac ($250+). Dunnuck called the 2020 “the finest wine I've tasted from this estate,” praising its richness and fine-textured tannins, and declaring: “The purity of fruit here is just about off the charts.”
That score, that praise, is for this price?! We can still hardly believe it. As you might expect, demand has exploded for this wine—you’ll be glad you stocked up.
