Favia: The Benefits of Friendship
We look forward to Andy Erickson and Annie Favia’s lineup of Favia wines every single vintage. But in 2019 they really out did themselves by putting together one of the greatest lineups we’ve tasted from the duo.
That’s especially impressive, considering that Andy and Annie’s bona fides are too numerous to list. They’ve got combined experience at Kongsgaard, Corison, Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, and Ovid, and it’s no exaggeration to say that we’d be proud to pour any wine in their 2019 collection alongside the most collectible red wines in Napa Valley.
We’re not alone in that assessment. Every wine in the lineup—from the Coombsville and Oakville Cabernets to the Cerro Sur and La Magdalena reds—earned between 96 and 99 points from both Jeb Dunnuck and Vinous.
A blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grown high on the plateau of Oakville Ranch, La Magdalena is a brilliant, towering wine. Deep, layered, and complex, it will be impossible to resist in the short- and mid-term, but will certainly age beautifully for over two decades.
This wine goes almost exclusively to Favia’s loyal mailing list, and is all but impossible to find outside of the Bay Area. We owe our allocation not just to our friendship, but to the many fans that Favia has earned at Wine Access through our earlier offers.
