    A Russian-River Biodynamic Leader Delivers!

When calls come in like the one we got last week from DeLoach, we've learned to move quickly.

A high-caliber national restaurant group told the winery they couldn’t take their entire allocation of the 2019 Chardonnay O.F.S. Russian River Valley—and we started dancing a jig. It isn’t every day that a 12-time Wine & Spirits Winery of the Year that Wine Spectator once called “one of California’s best producers of Chardonnay”—and a Demeter-certified biodynamic estate that’s a sparkling jewel in the Boisset Collection—calls us up with an offer this juicy. It’s rarer still that the wine overdelivers at this level.

“O.F.S.” means “Our Finest Selection,” but at Boisset, it has a nickname: “Out—@&!%ing—Standing!” This is the perfect bottle for anyone who loves Russian River Chardonnay—but not Russian River pricing.

Every last sip of this wine shows off DeLoach’s excellent vineyard sources, and how the Boissets—the world-class wine family also behind Burgundy’s Bouchard Âiné & Fils and Napa Valley’s Raymond Vineyards—have spared no expense in ensuring that DeLoach lives up to the high standards it’s been setting for nearly five decades.

DeLoach was founded by Cecil De Loach, a Wine Access–favorite winemaker who was one of the Russian River Valley’s true pioneers. When he sold the winery to the Boisset family, they hired California Chardonnay godfather David Ramey as a consulting winemaker, signaling their commitment to maintaining—and elevating—DeLoach’s already paramount quality.

Today, DeLoach is helmed by fourth-generation winemaker Brian Maloney, who has crafted top-scoring, $100+ wines at the historic Buena Vista Winery (once helmed by the great André Tchelistcheff). At DeLoach, Maloney is backed by the Boissets’ uncompromising dedication to crafting excellent wines—and the results are spectacular.
