Benham’s long history in the Russian River region allows him to source stellar fruit from this world-famous Pinot Noir appellation, where a cool ocean-influenced climate and unique Goldridge soils have inspired winemakers and Pinot growers for generations. Leveraging his influence, Benham has tapped into excellent sites (which are under NDA lock and key), accessing Russian River’s coveted terroir without the typical accompanying prices. 

The promise of the stellar fruit is realized by Benham’s super-talented winemaking duo of Talley alum Leslie Renaud and consultant Keith Emerson, who achieved perfect-score fame at Vineyard 29. The temperate 2019 growing season provided the pair with grapes that had plenty of time to ripen, developing a rich depth of flavor. After hand-picking and destemming, they gave the wine 12 months in 40% new French oak, imbuing it with warm spice notes.
