2018 The Mascot Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 750 ml

Well over a decade ago, Will Harlan scored a few barrels of Cabernet from the younger vines at his family’s incomparable estates. He blended a wine to share with his friends, packaging some of the most precious Cabernet in Napa Valley in nondescript bottles. 

Finally, in 2008, Will’s wine eked its way outside his inner circle. The Mascot was officially born, and it soon took its place as one of the greats. It is the only wine in the world that can claim to be made by the teams behind three of Napa Valley’s most legendary Cabernets—BOND, Harlan Estate, and Promontory—and that pedigree shows in every sip.

In 2018, Mother Nature delivered one of the greatest growing seasons Napa Valley has ever seen, and that gift—brought to bear by the Mascot teams’ diligent farming practices and obsessive attention to detail in the cellar—has delivered an absolutely SUPERB Mascot bottling.

The Harlan family is known for some of the greatest Cabernets in the world, and what makes these wines magical is not groundbreaking winery technology. It’s not a proprietary blend or cutting-edge technique. It’s incomparable terroir, pure and simple—terroir to which only the family has access. 

The Mascot is composed of grapes from the BOND, Harlan, and Promontory vineyards—and the 2018 vintage is a hedonistic masterpiece. It fills the room with aromas of dark-cherry and blackberry preserves wrapped in tobacco and espresso. Broad and complete on the palate, it has rich red and black fruit laced with graphite, riding on graceful tannins that resolve in a long, joyful finish.
