2018 Star Treatment Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 750 ml

We can usually only reveal a few details about our NDA wines—and we can say WAY less about this one. Here’s what we CAN say:

The source winery scored 100 points from a top critic in 2018. 

That’s about it. 

That should give you some indication as to just how high-profile it is (hint: EXTREMELY) and how carefully it guards its reputation. Often, though, we find that the less we’re allowed to say, the more exciting the source—and we need just a single word to describe this one: iconic. Want to try its wine? No problem—just jump in line with the horde of collectors waiting to join the mailing list, and if a bottle becomes available, have at least $300 ready. 

In the meantime, this 2018 Star Treatment—from impeccable Rutherford, Oakville, Calistoga, and Yountville vineyards—comes from the same fruit, but not at the same price.

This wine is Sammy Davis Jr. belting it out to the back row—bold and powerful, yet satiny and smooth. It’s a plunge into brooding, dark-fruit depths with layers of baking spices, cocoa, and tobacco, all carried on well-integrated tannins. 

As for the 2018 vintage in Napa...well, Wine Spectator hit the year with a ridiculous 99-point score, matching the highest they’ve ever awarded.  

When news of 2018’s bounty broke, our first call was to this estate. They almost never sell their Cabernet to other winemakers, but in a year of unprecedented quality and sheer volume, we got lucky. Knowing it might be the only time we’d ever get our hands on Cabernet of this quality, we spared no expense. 

It’s everything you’d anticipate from a premium Napa Cab, but at a price you’d never expect.
