“A Wine That’s Too Damn Easy to Drink”
What do you get when you mix Napa’s “Guide to the Good Life,” and Cabernet mastermind Todd Anderson with the market trend for rosé?
“A wine that’s too damn easy to drink,” according to Anderson Conn Valley General Manager Jim Silver. “We haven’t released this yet, but my wife has already gone through a case.”
As Jim told us that in the halls of ACV’s cavernous barrel cellar, we looked down—all of our glasses had been drained of the watermelon pink 2018 rosé, which bursts with notes of candied strawberry, fresh red raspberry, and cherry balanced by sweet cream and citrus zest. Today, we’re stockpiling cases away for ourselves. At $20, it turns the Napa value proposition on its head, in a dazzling shade of pink.
The first ever rosé from Anderson Conn Valley, the 2018 lives up to Todd Anderson’s larger than life reputation, and delivers everything lovers of classic California wines adore. Designed by the masters of St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon, the ‘18 rosé bottles the full-flavored, bold, powerful style of ACV in a snappy rosé designed to be stashed within reach for drinking early and often.
Unlike many of the pink wines cascading across store displays this season, the Anderson Conn Valley rosé isn’t just mild pink juice made from extra grapes. Instead, ACV’s ripe, juicy rosé was grown and made with a clear vision, and the result is a watermelon pink rosé bursting with complexity from the estate’s top-scoring Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
The 2018 vintage provided an abundance of ultra-high quality fruit, giving the Anderson Conn Valley team more than enough raw materials to craft a wine of incredible complexity, which beautifully balances ripe red fruit with a hint of fresh herbs and mouth-watering freshness. The Malbec was grown and harvested specifically to add bright, refreshing fruit to this rosé, while additions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot added a plush texture, spicy undertones, and floral notes in equal measure.
