    “Mini Version” of Araujo

It’s no surprise that Bart and Daphne Araujo’s project is in high demand. Araujo Estate—the winery that made them Valley legends—was named by Wine Spectator’s James Laube as producer of one of the top nine cult wines in the Valley, and listed in Robert Parker’s book, The World’s Greatest Wine Estates. Parker called Araujo “a formidably run winery dedicated to producing exceptionally high quality wines,” and in one of his six 98-99 point reviews advised: “Readers should try and get on the mailing list, or at least on the waiting list for the mailing list!”

When they thought about the kind of wines they wanted to make, Bart and Daphne recalled the great Inglenooks and Mondavi Reserves of the early 1970s. Accustomed to prime terroir like their recently relinquished Eisele Vineyard, which is widely considered a Napa Grand Cru, they turned their focus to sourcing fruit from a range of excellent sites.

When Bart and Daphne found the beloved old Wheeler property, which dated back to 1880, they knew they had the right place. They built a state-of-the-art facility that reflected every lesson they learned at Araujo, one that is now a sought-after custom-crush facility, where elite partners like TOR turn out their triple-digit-priced Cabernets.

This is a single-site wine, sourced from the Pestoni Vineyard in Rutherford, one of the hotbed sub-AVAs for Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a mouthwateringly crisp, intensely fresh white with a hint of sweet spice and a clean mineral finish—Antonio Galloni said its “interplay of vibrant flavors and textural depth make for a tasty, versatile Sauvignon that can be enjoyed on its own or alongside a wide range of foods.”

We suggest taking your time to enjoy this wine, but don’t wait to click buy—this price won’t last forever.
