The Story of Napa in a Bottle

As Director of Brand Development John Trant told us, the goal for Terroir is to “tell the Napa story in a bottle” in a way that “covers the story of the valley as a whole, as well as the uniqueness of the individual sub-regions.” They’ve succeeded wildly, producing this inaugural red from top-scoring Napa Valley vineyard sites, and they’ve turned to Wine Access to release it.

The 2017 Terroir red cascades over the palate with violets, vanilla, and plums, morphs into a wave of dark chocolate, tobacco, and currants, then segues into a finish driven by firm tannins.

This Wine Access exclusive is your chance to own what is sure to become one of the most sought-after reds of the year before literally anyone else in America. It’s also one of the best values you’ll find from the most expensive region in the country.

Only 270 cases were crafted by Bonfort’s 2019 Winemaker of the Year Marbue Marke, who uses grapes from Italics Winegrowers’ estate vineyard, as well as from standout producers like Constant and Keenan, among others. For a sense of the quality of the Cab, Merlot, and Cab Franc that go into this classic-in-the-making, Keenan’s wines regularly top $100, Constant is often closer to $150, and the other (top secret) vineyards have been among the highest scorers in the entire valley. One of the main sources of grapes for the 2017 Terroir has been praised for its “great vivacity” and “plush texture” by none other than Wine Advocate.

The team behind Italics Winegrowers has a track record of producing wines that, almost immediately, become the sort of collectors' items that can only be found on critically praised wine lists and at high-roller auctions like Premiere Napa Valley, like their Italics Winegrowers and Appellations reds. The 2017 Terroir Red Wine Napa Valley is sure to be their next big hit.

This Wine Access-exclusive offer of the first vintage ever of Terroir is likely your last chance to acquire it for anything approaching a reasonable price. Among sommeliers and collectors, Italics Winegrowers and Appellations have become must-have additions to any serious California collection. Terroir is poised for the same trajectory, and, in all likelihood, a place of pride on the auction block. Unless it finds a place in your personal collection first.
