2017 Farrimond Hitch Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 750 ml

We first encountered the 2017 Farrimond Hitch after it was freshly bottled, and we instantly marked it as one we hoped to bring to Wine Access members. Through a series of serendipitous events (plus some crossed fingers and wood-knocking) we were able to secure a few cases. 

They all sold like hotcakes—hotcakes that racked up an impressive 4.28 out of 5. That’s one of our highest ratings of any NDA wine ever, and it earned Farrimond Hitch a spot alongside some of Napa’s most sought-after Cabs.

Members lamented not buying more. They also clamored for another shot. Today,  dear members, we are over the moon to tell you that we laid claim to a second allocation of this spectacular Cab. 

We originally scored this incredible wine thanks to bottling season: a hectic period in Napa’s annual winemaking schedule, and a time when those who know where to look can uncover some of the best deals of the year. Winemakers rushing to wrap up last year’s vintage and looking to make space in the cellar can be very amenable to offloading some of their inventory—which is how we swooped in and scooped up our first batch of Farrimond Hitch. 

It was a once-in-a-decade deal—or at least we thought it was at the time. But thanks to a bit of spectacular fortune, we were able to snag a second allotment of this stunner. Aged 22 months in 25% new French oak, it follows the same regimen as (and drinks like) Napa’s finest, but at a truly unlikely price. It’s a steal that encourages you to raise a glass as often as you like. Just be sure to toast to Lady Luck.
