Single-Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
For the first time ever, we have an allocation of Didier Daguenau’s legendary Pouilly-Fumé wines. The wines are rich, rounded, and silky on the palate, counterbalanced by bright, refreshing acidity giving each bottling textural depth—the epitome of Sauvignon Blanc.
Didier Dagueneau, the much-beloved wild man of the Pouilly-Fumé, created the most in-demand Sauvignon Blanc of the Loire Valley. He was among the first of the region to make single parcel wine from own-rooted, low-yielding vines worked by horse. His craftsmanship extended into the cellar, where he used cigar-shaped barrels with very light toast. Since his passing in 2008, his legacy is carried on by his son, Benjamin, who continues to make age-worthy Sauvignon Blanc of the highest order. However, these do take serious willpower to age due to their complexity upon release.
The 2017 Pur Sang is a single-vineyard powerhouse. French for “Pure Blood,” it proudly displays its chalky minerality of its terroir, backed up with Meyer lemon and herbs—it’s textbook Sauvignon Blanc in all of the best ways. A creamy texture defines this wine, which makes it the perfect partner to halibut or scallops with an herbed butter sauce.
