Two Ballers’ Blockbuster Red
NBA future Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade knows how to win, period. And he knew that to launch the inaugural vintage of his Three by Wade Napa Valley red wine, he’d need some serious talent on his team. So he tapped his winemaker, Matt Naumann—who dialed up Wine Access.
We were honored to be Wade Cellars’ first call for the World Premiere of the lush 2016 Three by Wade, a red that dazzled us from the first sip. Pouring purple-black and showing beautiful density in the glass, it pulled us in with its heady, jammy notes of boysenberry and black currant preserves interwoven with black licorice, violets, and vanilla—aromas we still can’t get out of our head.
One look at the Wade roster and it’s no surprise that this red scores big: Dwyane’s partner is the legendary Jayson Pahlmeyer, the 100-point vintner whose iconic name might as well be permanently engraved on every steakhouse list in the country. This Prisoner-like field blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Malbec, and Petite Sirah exudes the signature Pahlmeyer seamlessness, richness, and balance. With its forward and supple palate of juicy black cherry and raspberry melding with mocha and clove, it’s a blockbuster that leaves your mouth watering for more.
Think about ribs and ribeyes coming off the grill, warm spring and summer nights, and the kind of plush, powerhouse red you’ll want within reach at all times. Then claim your share only on Wine Access, just $30 per bottle.
The greatest athletes leave a legacy, and Dwyane Wade has moved beyond the court—where his legend is already unassailable—to the world of wine. His love for food, wine, and the finer things was kindled by his Miami Heat teammate Lebron James (who’s minted quite a few NBA oenophiles), but a 2014 trip to Napa Valley sealed his future as a vintner.
That’s when Dwyane experienced the Napa Valley harvest with his friend Jayson Pahlmeyer and his family. He was absolutely intoxicated by this magical time in the Valley, and decided there and then to make his own wine. But rather than go it alone in the daunting enterprise, Wade took an assist from Pahlmeyer himself, whose iconic Pahlmeyer and Jayson Proprietary Reds are synonymous with the Napa Valley ultra-high-quality red blend. Staining his hands in the cellar is Matt Naumann, who is also on the winemaking team at Sonoma County’s world-renowned Failla.
Pahlmeyer fans, Prisoner fans, and those looking for a lush, powerful right-hand red that’s equally at home by the grill, on the dinner table, and on its own, this is for you. We’re honored to get the call from Dwyane, Jayson, and Matt on this one, and can’t wait for you to try it.
