2016 Portfolio Red Wine Limited Edition Napa Valley 750 ml

The 2016 Portfolio Limited Edition Cabernet Sauvignon reaches the pinnacle of Napa Valley excellence, and was ushered there by one of the valley’s living legends—Geneviève Janssens.

Janssens is a Wine Enthusiast Winemaker of the Year, and few can rival her experience and mastery when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon. She studied under Robert Mondavi himself, shepherding his namesake winery and creating the legendary wines of Opus One.

Portfolio is Janssens’s passion project. She fashions it from grapes grown on some of the most desirable land in Napa, and works in a tiny winery attached to her house. It’s an intimate, handcrafted endeavor—like sitting at Jiro’s sushi counter while he leads you through a one-of-a-kind meal. 

As you might expect, someone with her history and cachet gets her choice of vineyard sources. The Cabernet Sauvignon in her 2016 Limited Edition comes from the mythical Block 8 of Hendry Ranch Vineyard, and the Cabernet Franc from To Kalon’s neighbor, Detert East. 

This must-have wine becomes harder and harder to find every year: Janssens only makes ten barrels, and most bottles are earmarked for the world’s best restaurants. However, she generously offered Wine Access members ten cases! 

The seamless 2016 Portfolio Limited Edition Cabernet Sauvignon comes from one of Napa’s greatest vintages. It delivers intense notes of black raspberry, cassis, blueberry, and blackberry, layered with fresh earth, dark chocolate, espresso, and cigar box. The finish is plush and velvety, and seems to last forever.
