    The Rosé that Beat Out 40 in a Blind Tasting

    When America’s #1-rated sommelier Michael Madrigale introduced us to this spectacular Provence rosé at NYC’s Bar Boulud we knew we needed to get our hands on as much as possible. Riotor burst onto Madrigale’s radar by outperforming 40 Rosés in a blind tasting that he organized. “It was the absolute best rosé I tasted in the lineup and it was the least expensive,” he told us.     It’s not surprising Château Riotor sits head and shoulders above other rosés, it’s produced by the family behind the legendary Château Mont-Redon, the estate that Parker says, “has produced some of the greatest Châteauneuf-du-Papes I have ever tasted.” The Abeille family (of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s top-notch Château Mont-Redon) produces Riotor at their Provence outpost in the Massif des Maures, a seaside mountain range that benefits from year-round sunshine and strong maritime influence. They employ cool and short macerations to impart delicacy to the Grenache- and Cinsaut-dominated blend, while 3% Rolle (Vermentino) enhances the wine’s aromatic complexity.
