Napa’s Member-Favorite Powerhouse Returns
Every Highlands Winery bottle we’ve shared with our members over the last seven years has sold out almost instantly. They’re some of the biggest fan-favorites in Wine Access history, accruing glowing member-reviews and always sparking dozens of inquiries about when we’re getting more in stock.
Well, we all just struck gold. We’re thrilled to offer you a limited, back-vintage allocation of the 2014 Highlands Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Coombsville.
Just 270 cases were made of this wine. A big chunk of production went to Highlands’ private mailing list, and another to a dozen or so of the country’s best steakhouses. The rest was squirreled away at the winery to sell one day as a library vintage.
That is, until Wine Access came along.
Because of our decade-long working relationship with proprietor Paul Segas, we claimed as many cases as we could of Highlands’ beautiful 2014, stored perfectly at the winery since release. Made in a great vintage, it comes from a stellar site near Palmaz—in the same AVA that stars like Paul Hobbs, Andy Erickson (Favia), and Meteor are making famous.
To make their Reserve Cabernet, Segas and his partner, UC Davis alum Dave Cofran, tapped their friend Tom Farella, a 40-year veteran grower and winemaker in the Coombsville AVA. It’s one of Napa’s hottest-trending appellations, and over the years it’s attracted luminaries like Tony Soter, Paul Hobbs, Meteor, and Purlieu.
Farella NAILED the 2014 vintage in this 2014 Highlands Cab. A wine of complexity and elegance but also richness and power, it’s structured enough to cruise another 5–10 years in the cellar.
