Dazzling Cellar Find from a Historic Site

We're proud to offer you rare access to a bottle that boasts pinnacle Napa pedigree—a cellared Cabernet classic that’s built like a brick house and dialed up to 10/10 on every count.

The winemaker behind this 2014 Guarachi Family Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is Paul Hobbs, the 100-point talent who earned his reputation at Robert Mondavi and Opus One. The Cab was grown on one of just six Beckstoffer Heritage Vineyards: the gravelly Las Piedras Vineyard in St. Helena, which has yielded three wines boasting 100-point scores from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Hobbs' own 2014 Cab from the site goes for $343.

That makes our price a phenomenal deal, especially for a perfectly aged Cabernet boasting such impeccable pedigree.

“This is a blockbuster, but impeccably crafted and balanced,” declared Robert Parker of the 2014 Las Piedras. “Super-rich but well-balanced, with beautifully integrated acidity, tannin and wood.”

Estates like Guarachi Family Wines might crack open the cellar to release a rare library vintage like this just once or twice in a decade. That makes our access to this stylistic masterpiece from a historic Napa vintage and world-class vineyard a momentous occasion. It’s fitting for a bottle with the stony power, undeniable class, and best-in-Napa heritage to match the world’s top luxury market bottles.

Las piedras means pebbles, and it’s the crushed-rock character of this site that’s made it a regular stop for elite houses like Carter, Schrader, Paul Hobbs, and Alpha Omega. Located at the base of Spring Mountain in St. Helena, the vines were originally planted in the 1840s on property that had been a Mexican land grant.

Andy Beckstoffer, perhaps Napa Valley’s most renowned grower, acquired Las Piedras in 1983 and replanted the site to Cabernet Sauvignon. Just a quarter of the acreage of the famed To Kalon Vineyard, it’s become one of the most sought-after sites in California, thanks to an intensely mineral style that Guarachi captured brilliantly in 2014.

Water drains easily through the pebbly soil of Las Piedras, allowing the vines to survive and push out tiny, brilliantly concentrated grapes even in the toughest vintages. All that power is shot through with a savory riverbed minerality that’s accompanied by silt-like tannins and opulent notes of dark cherry, chocolate, and baking spice.

Hobbs aged the 2014 in 100% French oak for 18 months, adding textural richness that's been amplified by time in the bottle. We hope you're among the lucky ones who claim a few for the cellar.
