Pinot So Great That Montage Resort Had It Registered in Utah

When the 2012 vintage Russian River Pinot Noirs were released it was the highest rated vintage ever by Robert Parker for North Coast Pinot. We have secured a stellar library release from that year, the outstanding 2012 Terra Valentine Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Winemaker and proprietor Sam Baxter assembled a trio of brilliant west Sonoma County vineyards, resulting in collector-worthy Russian River Pinot Noir with terrifically concentrated red berry fruit and sweet spices.

The sommelier team at Montage Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, knows a thing or two about accessing hard-to-find and allocated California wines. Such was their excitement over Terra Valentine’s 2012 Pinot Noir that they went out of their way to have it registered with the State of Utah — not an easy thing to accomplish — to purchase from the Baxters and offer it to their discerning guests. Montage is, in fact, one of the few places in the U.S. where this mailing list-only wine can be acquired. The Montage sommeliers found that the combination of Olivet Lane, Freestone, and Green Valley fruit in this rich, expressive Russian River Valley Pinot matched well with the bold cuisine executed by Chef Christian Ojeda at the mountain resort’s restaurant, APEX. Now with a few years of bottle age, Terra Valentine’s is a perfect Pinot Noir for the cellar, whether a luxury hotel’s or a private collector’s.

After a string of consecutive small crops in the western reaches of Sonoma County, perfect weather in 2012 brought forth a perfect vintage for a world clamoring for more Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Terra Valentine has allowed Wine Access clients a shot at theirs, from a vintage will go down as one of the greatest to date in California wine history.
