007, Spectre … and the Gift for Someone Who Thought He Had Everything
In 1953, Ian Fleming published his first novel about an intelligence officer under the employ of the Secret Intelligence Service, commonly known as MI6. Fleming based his fictional creation on a number of men he came across while serving in the Naval Intelligence Division during World War II, admitting that the character “was a compound of all the secret agents and commando types I met during the war.”
The agent’s name was Bond, James Bond, also known by his code number: 007.
In all of the subsequent books — including Diamonds are Forever (1956), Dr. No (1958), Goldfinger (1959), Thunderball (1961), or You Only Live Twice (1964), as well as the iconic films that followed — Fleming surrounded Bond with now-familiar elements: Beautiful and mysterious women, villainous adversaries like Goldfinger and Francisco Scaramanga, and high-stakes baccarat.
When 007 wanted a drink, he took his Martinis “shaken, but not stirred.” When it came to Champagne, Bond sipped Bollinger Champagne.
On the eve of the release of the newest Bond film, “Spectre,” starring Daniel Craig as 007 and Christoph Waltz as the villain, Bollinger disgorged just a few thousand bottles of the family’s superb 2009 — all specially labeled and packaged in honor of Ian Fleming’s secret agent.

Just a few thousand bottles of the 2009 Bollinger Bond Spectre Limited Edition Grand Cru Champagne are headed stateside, each shipped in the MOST EXQUISITE Champagne gift box we’ve ever seen. Each bottle comes encased in a chill box designed by Carré Basset, which keeps the bottle cold for two hours.
This morning, WineAccess comes first.
The 2009 Bollinger Champagne Grand Cru is pale gold in hue. Tiny bubbles of excellent persistence. Lively, highly mineral aromas of Meyer lemon, ripe pear, and anise. Mouthwatering ripe-citrus flavors giving way to pear and blood orange. Terrifically vibrant and crisp on the mid-palate. Finishes with great sweet-spice complexity and high-toned chalky minerality.
Fifty bottles have been earmarked for WineAccess. $199/bottle — each shipped in the Black 007 Chiller Gift Box, arriving before the November 6th U.S. release of “Spectre.”
With only 50 bottles, the offer is limited to one gift box per member. Sorry in advance!
P.S. This is the ULTIMATE Christmas gift for a guy who thought he had everything!
