Always a Bucket-List Wine. In This Vintage, It’s More.

Lafite Rothschild is a bucket-list wine in any vintage.

But when it’s from a year like 2009—which Robert Parker called “unquestionably the greatest Bordeaux vintage I have ever tasted”—it’s even more.

Lafite is known for combining Pauillac’s innate power with an aristocratic elegance, and this wine thrills on both a visceral and an intellectual level. Parker called it “unquestionably profound” and “among the most powerful Lafites ever made” while teeing it up for future perfection with a score of 99+ points.

This is the height of Bordeaux and one of the world’s greatest collector wines, showing Pauillac in full flush. We’re thrilled to have 30 bottles available, directly from the cellars of the venerable château. You won't find better provenance anywhere.

Lafite has been one of the iconic wines of France since Louis XV and Thomas Jefferson both sang its praises in the 1700s, and it remains one of the most collectible wines in the world today. That status means the winery can afford to reinvest in quality like few others.

Lafite has their own cooperage, a rare luxury that allows them to tailor each barrel to the specific vineyard block it will contain. Combine that with various sizes of wood, stainless steel, and concrete fermentation tanks and you have a recipe for nearly unmatched precision in the vinification and aging of their wines.

2009 had a warm summer and fall, which allowed for perfect ripening and yielded small, concentrated berries. Lafite used just 45% of their available grapes for their grand vin, which means only the most flawless berries made it into their 2009 Lafite. The resulting wine captures the magic of Pauillac in legendary style.
