Profound Discovery from Champagne's Most Famous Grand Cru Village

Philippe Gonet’s TER Blanc de Blancs is a mouthwatering reminder that there can be profound discoveries waiting, even in world-famous wine regions.

The longstanding estate is smack in the middle of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger—the home of some of Champagne’s most hallowed terroir. They’re just a stone’s throw from the legendary Salon, and their cellars sit just steps from Clos du Mesnil, from which Krug fashions one of the world’s most famous (and expensive) single-plot Champagnes.

While the Gonet family flies under the radar compared to their neighbors, their TER Blanc de Blancs displays the prestige of their terroir. Bearing 97 points from the Decanter World Wine Awards—tied for the highest score any Champagne received in 2024—it’s both graceful and lively, sumptuous and energetic, showing layers of citrus zest, mandarin blossom, sea breeze, ginger, and saffron. That kind of quality and versatility has landed Gonet Champagnes on the wine lists at Michelin-starred restaurants like Guy Savoy in Paris and Le Bernardin in NYC

The TER Blanc de Blancs is a blend of Chardonnay from three world-class lieux-dits. One third comes from Les Haute-Mottes in the Grand Cru Les Mesnil-sur-Oger, contributing concentration and acidity. Another third is from the Les Vozémieux in the Grand Cru Oger, which brings minerality and richness. And the final third hails from Les Corrigniers in the Premier Cru Ludes, adding further complexity.

Philippe Gonet has occupied the Côte des Blancs since 1830, and this bottle is the handiwork of seventh-generation brother and sister Pierre and Chantal. They inherited the estate when they were in their early 20s, and over time, have managed to produce bottles with incredible nuance and class from their peerless terroir.
