Ridge: Always Raising the Bar
There might not be a California winery more revered than Ridge.
They’re been named North America’s #1 Most Admired Wine Brand (and #3 in the world) by Drinks International. They’ve earned a spot in Wine & Spirits Magazine’s Top 100 winery 20 times. They placed fifth at the earth-shattering 1976 Judgment of Paris—and took the crown when those iconic wines were pitted against one another again 30 years later.
Collectors all over the world know Ridge for their First Growth–quality Monte Bello. California-wine lovers probably know their Zinfandel and Sonoma County blends best—but no bottle expresses what they do better than the 95-point 2019 Petite Sirah Lytton Estate Dry Creek Valley.
“What a wine.” That’s what Antonio Galloni said in his glowing review of this bottle, which was raised on century-old vines on Ridge’s organically farmed Lytton Springs property in Dry Creek. Boasting a stunning 95-point score, this is a category-defining wine—and doubtless one of the greatest wines ever to come off the Lytton Estate.
Lytton is located on the arid benchlands of Sonoma County, between Dry Creek and Alexander Valley, where foggy mornings burn off into warm and sunny afternoons before breezes pick up in the late evening. The oldest Petite Sirah vines were planted in 1901, and their thick, gnarled trunks continue to squeeze out some of the most hauntingly complex flavor profiles in each tiny berry.
Petite Sirah is known for its robust tannins, and Ridge does a phenomenal job of taming them. The result, in an absolutely spectacular Sonoma County vintage, is a Petite Sirah of flawless structure, relatively modest alcohol, ready approachability, and outstanding ageability.
What an outstanding bottle to have in your cellar!
